Best Day Trips from Amman

Compare day trips from Amman to Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and Jerash with private transportation.

Choose a day trip by destination

Petra is the most iconic and is recommended as a first choice for anyone visiting Jordan for the first time. The ~3-hour drive is straightforward, and a full day at the site is deeply rewarding.

The Dead Sea is the easiest day trip — just 1 hour from Amman — and is ideal if you have limited time or want a more relaxed experience. Wadi Rum requires a longer day but is unforgettable for its desert scenery.

Jerash is one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. The Oval Plaza, Cardo Maximus, and South Theatre are extraordinary. Jerash and the Dead Sea can also be combined in a single long day from Amman.

Combining stops and arranging transport

The Dead Sea and the Baptism Site (Al-Maghtas) are commonly combined in one day, as they are about 15 minutes apart. Petra and Wadi Rum are best done on separate days — a combined Petra and Wadi Rum day is rushed and does not do either site justice.

Every day trip includes private transportation with a professional driver, hotel or accommodation pickup and drop-off, and a fixed price for the journey. Entrance tickets, meals, guide services, and optional activities at each site are not included and are paid directly at the destination.

Use the custom trip builder to choose your own departure time, stops, and route. Common customisations include adding the King's Highway between Amman and Petra, combining the Baptism Site with the Dead Sea, or making a stop in Madaba on the way to Petra.
