Wadi Rum Trip from Amman
Plan a Wadi Rum trip from Amman with private transportation, fixed pricing, and options to combine the desert with Petra.
Plan the drive from Amman to Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum is approximately 300 kilometres south of Amman. The drive takes around 3.5 to 4 hours via the Desert Highway (Route 15), heading south towards Aqaba before turning into the protected area. It is the most distant major day trip from Amman.
A Wadi Rum day trip from Amman is possible, but it involves approximately 7 to 8 hours of total driving. An early departure (around 5:30–6:30 AM) is essential. Many travellers prefer to pair Wadi Rum with a Petra overnight stay, then transfer from Petra to Wadi Rum (1.5 hours) the following day.
What private transportation includes
ORYXJOURNEY operates private cars (1–4 passengers), private vans (5–8 passengers), and private buses (9–19 passengers). All vehicles are private — your group only. Pricing is fixed per vehicle, not per person.
For transportation-only arrangements, Jeep tours, camel rides, guided hikes and desert camping are separate unless explicitly included. Some published Wadi Rum packages include a Jeep tour; check the listed inclusions for your selected package. Your private driver provides transportation to and from the visitor centre.
The Wadi Rum Protected Area charges an entry fee per visitor, payable at the visitor centre on arrival. This is separate from the private transportation price. Your driver will drop you at the visitor centre entrance.
